We will probably never know if the three-tone blue dial was created as an alternative to the dial of the A386 or was destined for a different specimen, but its striking beauty and intriguing history convinced the watchmakers Zenith to produce the model. No official document has been received regarding the prototypes of these three-color blue-toned dials, however, as the latter were found alongside dials of the A386, with the same characteristics of the model marketed in 1969, it could be deduced that they are prototypes of dials for the A386 and that Charles Vermot in person has hidden them in the attic along with other tools of El Primero. In it, extraordinarily preserved after decades, were contained various dials: the iconic three-color dial El Primero of the model A386, which has become a symbol of design Zenith, and even more surprising, another version of the three-color dials featuring three different shades of blue.
